In a move that signals Real Madrid’s commitment to silverware at every level, Thiago Pitarch has officially rejoined the Castilla squad. The midfielder made an immediate impact, helping Raul’s side secure a gritty 2-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb to clinch a spot in the Premier League International Cup Final.
Pitarch, who has spent the majority of the 2025/26 campaign as a valuable rotation piece for the first team, is returning to his roots at a critical juncture for the academy.
A Strategic Step Back to Move Forward
Despite his talent, Pitarch’s minutes under Alvaro Arbeloa have dwindled in recent weeks as the first team focused on a tightening (though ultimately frustrating) title race and heavy-hitter rotations. The club hierarchy decided that rather than sitting on the bench at the Bernabéu, the 20-year-old’s development—and Castilla’s promotion hopes—would be better served in the academy ranks.
- Castilla’s Objective: With the Primera Federación playoffs on the line, Pitarch’s top-flight experience provides a massive tactical boost to the midfield.
- The Final: Castilla now prepares for the Premier League International Cup Final, a prestigious trophy that would provide a silver lining to the club’s overall season.
Summer Horizon: Loan Move Looming
While Pitarch is fighting for Castilla now, his long-term future for the 2026/27 season appears to be away from the Spanish capital. Reports suggest that Real Madrid is actively looking to arrange a loan deal this summer.
The goal is simple: find a La Liga or top-tier European club where Pitarch can be a guaranteed starter. After a season of “learning by osmosis” with the first team, the club believes he is ready for “relevant minutes” to bridge the gap between prospect and protagonist.
RMxtra Verdict: The Right Move at the Right Time
Seeing Pitarch drop back to Castilla is a win-win. It gives the academy a better chance at promotion and a trophy, while ensuring the player stays match-fit ahead of a crucial summer. If he performs well in the International Cup Final and the playoffs, his market value for a high-level loan—or a permanent move with a buy-back—will only skyrocket.
