Real Madrid has solidified the future of its attacking depth by securing 18-year-old striker Jaime Barroso to a new long-term contract extending until 2030. To protect their investment in the promising forward, the club’s administration has established an €80 million release clause.

Barroso has established himself as one of the most highly-regarded talents within La Fabrica, Real Madrid’s youth academy. He is currently the club’s leading scorer in the UEFA Youth League with three goals and has consistently demonstrated a remarkable proficiency in the final third.

An Emerging Talent in Valdebebas

Since joining the academy in 2022, Barroso’s statistical output has been exceptional. The forward has recorded 99 goals across all youth competitions, 18 of which have been scored in the current campaign across appearances for both Real Madrid C and the Juvenil A squad.

His recent performances highlight his ongoing impact. Over the weekend, Barroso scored the third goal in Juvenil A’s comprehensive 6-0 victory over La Cruz Villanovense in the Division de Honor. The following day, he demonstrated his playmaking ability by providing a crucial 89th-minute assist for Real Madrid C, securing a 2-1 victory.

Characterized as a traditional center-forward, Barroso has earned the moniker “The Buffalo” due to his strength, combative nature, and effective hold-up play. He consistently challenges defenders and possesses a natural finishing instinct, qualities that directly influenced the club’s decision to offer this long-term extension.

A Continued Commitment

Following the official signing, Barroso released a statement expressing his gratitude and commitment to the institution:

“The dream continues. Thank you to the club of my life for the trust and to everyone who helps me keep growing. Here’s to many more years walking together. Hala Madrid y nada mas!”

Future Development

Looking forward, Real Madrid management has outlined a clear trajectory for the young striker. The current objective is to integrate Barroso into Real Madrid Castilla for the upcoming season, allowing him to face more advanced competition and continue his professional development within the club’s established system.
