Real Madrid midfielder Manuel Angel is on his way to Fulham, with the two clubs having reached an agreement over a transfer for the 22-year-old, according to Fabrizio Romano. Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa — who handed Angel his senior debut at the Santiago Bernabéu — has been pushing to bring the youngster to Craven Cottage all summer, and it looks like he’s finally got his man.
Angel is a central midfielder who can also slot into a more defensive midfield role when needed. Last season he made seven appearances for Real Madrid’s first team across all competitions, with Arbeloa himself giving him that initial opportunity in the senior setup. Now, with Arbeloa in the Fulham dugout, he’s looking to reunite with a player he clearly rates.
As for Madrid’s interests in the deal, Real Madrid are set to retain 50% of Angel’s rights after the move is completed, per The Athletic. Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Los Blancos will hold a sell-on clause as well as matching rights — a strategy the club has deployed before when talented Castilla prospects head out to gain regular first-team football elsewhere.
This would make Angel the third player Fulham have signed from Real Madrid this summer, underlining the strong connection between Arbeloa’s project at Craven Cottage and his former club. With the Cottagers having lost several central midfielders over recent months, Angel’s arrival addresses a clear need in the squad.
