Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has put a firm end to speculation surrounding Endrick’s future, confirming he personally stepped in to block the 20-year-old forward from leaving the Santiago Bernabéu this summer.
Following a productive loan spell in France with Lyon during the second half of the 2025/26 season, Endrick attracted intense interest from top European clubs seeking loan and permanent moves. However, Mourinho made it clear in his press conference ahead of the Real Sociedad fixture that he views the Brazilian international as an essential part of his tactical plans.
Mourinho’s Statement on Endrick
Addressing reporters at Valdebebas, Mourinho praised the youngster’s ceiling and explained why he refused to let him depart:
“He’s a player I really like. He’s had so many, many contacts with other clubs, both for loans and to sell… I didn’t want him to leave because I like this player so much; he has significant talent.”
Tactical Role & Injury Update
While Endrick missed Real Madrid’s La Liga opening 2-1 victory over Espanyol, Mourinho clarified that his current absence is purely precautionary due to minor tendon inflammation.
Key Elements of Mourinho’s Plan for Endrick:
- Right Flank & Central Depth: Mourinho values Endrick’s versatility to play as the primary deputy behind Yan Diomandé on the right wing, while also possessing the explosiveness to partner with Kylian Mbappé or debut hero Carlos Espí in a twin-striker setup.
- High-Intensity Impact: The manager highlighted Endrick’s ball-striking power and change of pace as vital assets when breaking down mid-to-low defensive blocks.
- National Team Backing: Mourinho expressed full confidence that Endrick will soon earn a recall to Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil national squad as he gets back to full match fitness.
The RMxtra Verdict
Mourinho’s public backing is a massive statement of intent for Endrick. In a long, physically demanding season across four competitions, having a dynamic game-changer like Endrick rotating across the front line provides Los Blancos with world-class depth. With the summer exit door officially closed, the stage is set for Endrick to make his mark at the Bernabéu.
