The shockwaves from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup squad selections are vibrating straight through the heart of Valdebebas. According to a dramatic report from TEAMtalk, French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is actively seeking a move away from Real Madrid this summer, with the Premier League firmly in his sights.
The 23-year-old’s sudden desire for a “fresh challenge” comes on the heels of major international disappointment and a stagnant season in the Spanish capital.
The World Cup Catalyst
The turning point for Camavinga has reportedly been his omission from France’s squad for the tournament this summer.
- The Frustration: Missing out on Didier Deschamps’ final roster has deeply frustrated the former Rennes sensation.
- The Realization: Sources close to the player suggest the snub has strengthened Camavinga’s belief that his development has plateaued at Madrid, prompting his representatives to actively hold talks with elite clubs over the past week.
Manchester United and Liverpool Circle
With Aurélien Tchouaméni expected to be retained despite his training ground bust-up with Fede Valverde, English giants are pivoting directly to Camavinga.
- The Carrick Factor: Manchester United manager Michael Carrick views Camavinga as an “attainable elite-level alternative” to replace Casemiro. The Red Devils see his athleticism and intense engine as a perfect fit for the Premier League.
- The Price Tag: Real Madrid is reportedly open to sanctioning a sale to help fund José Mourinho’s requested squad overhaul. The club’s hierarchy is expected to demand a fee in the region of £50 million (€60 million)—a figure that will not deter either United or Liverpool.
Mourinho’s Looming Cleansing
This bombshell report lines up exactly with news that Mourinho has demanded five player exits to clean up the dressing room culture.
While Camavinga’s talent is undeniable—as shown during his start against Real Oviedo on Thursday—Mourinho is prioritizing a strict hierarchy and reliable tactical discipline. If a player is already looking at the exit door because of a national team setback, “The Special One” is rarely the type to stand in their way.
RMxtra Verdict: A Risk Madrid Might Regret
Selling a 23-year-old of Camavinga’s ceiling for £50 million feels incredibly risky, especially to a revitalized Manchester United under Carrick. However, if the player feels his cycle in Madrid has ended and the club needs to balance the books for defensive signings, this “rapidly accelerating” situation could become the first major departure of the summer window.
