Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy has made a big decision about his health. After another painful injury, the French left-back has chosen a special doctor to help him get back on the pitch.
Instead of staying with the usual club doctors, Mendy is going to see Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet in France. This is the same expert who treated Kylian Mbappé earlier this season.
Why This Doctor?
Mendy had many options, but he chose Dr. Sonnery-Cottet because he is known as one of the best in the world for knee and leg injuries.
- The Goal: Mendy wants to be back in about 4 months. Some people think he could even be ready in 3 months if everything goes perfectly.
- The Problem: This injury is a “relapse,” which means the same old injury came back. Because of this, the doctors have to be very careful so it doesn’t happen a third time.
Mendy is Not Leaving
Even though he has missed many games, Mendy is not giving up.
- Contract: He has a contract with Real Madrid until 2028.
- Commitment: He told his team that he wants to stay at the club and fight for his position once he is healthy again.
A Hard Time for the Team
Mendy’s injury adds to the many problems Real Madrid is facing right now. With Dani Carvajal and Fede Valverde also out, the team is missing many of its senior leaders before the big match against Barcelona.
Because Mendy is away for treatment, he will miss the rest of this season. He is now focused on being 100% ready for the start of the next season.
RMxtra Verdict
Ferland Mendy is a “soldier” on the field, but his body has been struggling lately. By choosing the same doctor as Mbappé, he is trying to get the best care possible. We hope to see the “Iron Tank” back on the left side of our defense very soon.
