Real Madrid’s build-up to their next La Liga match against Levante is being shaped by a growing injury list, with several first-team players unavailable as the team prepares for the fixture at the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to a report from MARCA, interim coach Álvaro Arbeloa led his third training session of the week with multiple important names missing from group work.

Six key players absent from group training
The report states that Rodrygo, Antonio Rüdiger, Andriy Lunin, Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold were all absent from full training with the squad.
That situation continues to stretch the team’s depth, especially in defence, where rotation options are already limited.
Brahim Díaz still away on international duty
Another notable absence is Brahim Díaz, who remains away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. His continued absence further reduces the attacking options and increases the likelihood of rotation or youth call-ups being utilised.
Mbappé trains, but the club remains cautious
There was at least one encouraging sight in training: Kylian Mbappé took part in the session. However, expectations remain cautious.
The forward is still recovering from a knee sprain suffered late last year and is not considered fully fit yet. As things stand, the report suggests he is not expected to feature against Levante, with the club reluctant to take unnecessary risks.
Asencio trains in a protective mask
Defender Raúl Asencio trained wearing a protective mask after suffering a broken and deviated septum. The mask is expected to help him remain available for the Levante match—an important boost for Arbeloa, given the defensive shortage.
Academy players drafted in to complete the session
As has happened often this season, several academy players were involved in training to bolster numbers. The report notes:
- Álvaro Leiva returned to train with the first team
- Jorge Cestero (who featured in the Copa del Rey defeat to Albacete) also joined
- Joan Martínez and César Palacios were involved as well
Big test for Arbeloa after difficult start
With injuries piling up and limited options, attention now turns to how Arbeloa approaches the Levante clash—especially after beginning his senior-team spell with a damaging defeat.
