Sevilla eye mid-season loan move for Fran García as Real Madrid consider options
Sevilla, on their part, remain optimistic that negotiations could progress favourably, especially if Real Madrid are open to allowing the defender to leave on loan or via a structured deal. With the winter window approaching quickly, this is a situation expected to gain momentum in the coming weeks.
The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating first half of the season, struggling to secure regular minutes under Carlo Ancelotti. Despite a strong showing at the FIFA Club World Cup, where his energy and attacking output were widely praised, Fran’s involvement has declined significantly in recent months.
The summer arrival of Álvaro Carreras has pushed the Spaniard further down the pecking order. At the same time, Ferland Mendy’s imminent return from injury is expected to tighten competition on the left even more. As a result, internal discussions at Valdebebas have reportedly left the door open for a possible departure in January.
Sevilla monitoring the situation closely
Sevilla, in the midst of a difficult campaign and undergoing a tactical reset under Matías Almeyda, are actively searching for reinforcements on the left side of their defence. Fran García has emerged as the preferred option, viewed as an ideal fit due to his pace, work rate, and familiarity with LaLiga.
However, the Andalusian club’s financial limitations make a permanent transfer unrealistic at this stage. According to the report, Sevilla are hopeful that Real Madrid will approve a loan move until the end of the season, allowing the player consistent game time while easing their immediate budget concerns.
Real Madrid weighing their decision
For Los Blancos, the decision will hinge on several factors — namely Mendy’s full recovery, Carreras’ adaptation, and the team’s injury situation heading into a congested second half of the season. While Madrid are not actively pushing Fran out, a temporary spell away is not being ruled out if all parties consider it beneficial.
As January approaches, Sevilla are expected to intensify contact in hopes of securing the former Rayo Vallecano standout.
