Ceballos Seals Real Betis Return on Deadline Day

Ceballos Seals Real Betis Return on Deadline Day

After years of speculation and a long summer searching for a new club, Dani Ceballos has finally made his much-anticipated return to Real Betis — and it’s official. The 30-year-old midfielder signs on a three-year deal, keeping him in Seville through June 2029, joining as a free agent after Real Madrid terminated his contract a year ahead of schedule.

Ceballos originally left the Verdiblancos back in 2017, but the rumours of a homecoming never truly went away. Nearly every transfer window since has brought fresh whispers about a reunion, and this summer those whispers grew into a full-blown saga. Betis were the most persistent suitors throughout, and on deadline day they got their man.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move with his trademark ‘here we go’, reporting that Ceballos returns to the club where his career first took off — this time on a free, and on a deal that takes him all the way to 2029. For Real Madrid fans it’s a bittersweet one: a player who gave plenty to the Bernabéu cause heads off to write a new chapter, and by the look of things, he couldn’t be happier about where that chapter begins.
